Distillation

This unique process relies on the fact that the boiling point of an individual fatty acid depends on its molecular weight (MW). The higher the MW, the higher the boiling point.

Oils at the KD Pharma Group are distilled by Short Path Distillation (SPD). SPD is a distillation technique which operates at an extremely low vacuum level (0,001 mBar). The boiling temperature decreases with a lower operating vacuum and heat sensitive liquids, such as Omega-3, can be processed without damaging the product. Distillation at KD Pharma Group is performed at very low vacuum.

Depending on a few variables, such as input quality, distillation is capable of producing highly concentrated Omega-3 fatty acids.
