Title: Same lipid sources - new lipid concepts

Description: In this presentation we will examine new opportunities with existing lipid sources. As science and technology continue their advancement new value may be found. DPA and hydroxylated omega-3 metabolites will be discussed as technical challenges and health promoting compounds.

We will also examine improving omega-3 visibility by formulating with complementary ingredients.

Biography: David Barnes, Ph.D., MBA, is a Dietary Supplement industry veteran and the author of over 40 peer-reviewed articles across a wide array of research topics. He is currently Global Head of Research and Development for the KD Pharma group of companies.

Barnes studied animal sciences and nutrition at the University of California at Davis where he earned master’s and doctoral degrees. In 2010, he earned a MBA from the University of Wisconsin - Whitewater.

Prior to joining KD Pharma, Barnes spent time in academia as a faculty member at the University of Wisconsin-Madison and the University of Arkansas. He moved to industry as the Director of Research for Standard Process.

Barnes is a frequent speaker at academic and conference events, and is actively involved in industry organizations. He is passionate about health and wellness, is an avid cyclist and cook, and lives with his family in Pennsylvania.
